Core Values

Taproot Church has five core values:

1.The Authority Of Scripture

The Bible consists of 66 books–39 in the Old Testament and 27 in the New Testament. We believe that every single one of these books is the authoritative word of God (2 Timothy 3:16-17). These words are not merely words on pages; they are living, active, and sufficient to convict and convince humanity of their need for God (Hebrews 4:12-13). In Taproot, the authoritative word of God is the foundation for who we are and what we do.

2.The Centrality Of The Gospel

We believe that Jesus, the eternal Son of God, was born into human history as a humble servant to become the Lord and Savior of all peoples. Jesus did this by living the perfect life that you and I could not, dying the death that you and I should have, and rising from a grave after three days to defeat Satan, sin, death, and Hell. He is now seated at the right hand of God the Father, ruling and reigning as the true and great king of the universe.

By doing all this, Jesus has earned the salvation that you and I never could on our own. In other words, we don’t work hard to be really good people in order to earn God’s love. Rather, we’re saved by grace alone through faith alone in the finished work of Jesus Christ alone!

In Christ, you are loved by God the Father in the exact same way He loves Jesus! In Christ, your relationship with God is made right. In Christ, there is nothing that can separate you from the love of God.

3.The Spirit and Prayer led life.

Though the Christian life is one of abundant joy, it is not easy. We truly believe we need all the help we can get. This help comes through the Holy Spirit and prayer.

As Jesus was preparing his disciples for his death, resurrection and ascension, he told them he would leave them with a Helper. That Helper is the Holy Spirit (John 14:15-17). For those whose faith is in Jesus, the same Holy Spirit dwells inside us that raised Jesus from the dead.

One of the greatest ways we express a joyful relationship with God and our dependence on him is through prayer. We believe that prayer matters–and God hears and answers them. As we pray, we express our need for the Holy Spirit to lead and establish our plans, not the other way around.

4.The Simplicity of the Local Church

We believe that the local church should be beautifully simple. In Taproot, this means we focus on and try to do a few things well for the sake of making as many disciples of Jesus as possible. We don’t have a lot of “programs” or “ministries,” and we don’t busy ourselves inside of the four walls of a building. Instead, we seek to gather well and scatter well.

We gather every Sunday for the serious and joyful worship of God through singing songs and preaching the Bible. This is an incredibly important facet of who we are as a church and it should not be neglected (Hebrews 10:24-25).

We also gather in Home Groups. These are smaller families within the greater family of Taproot that gather in homes on Wednesday nights.

From our gathering points we are scattered into our city to make much of Jesus wherever we are. We believe we’re all disciples of Jesus who are to be making disciples of Jesus. This means that wherever God has you on a regular basis is your primary place of ministry and mission.

5.The Flourishing of our City.

We love Twin Falls and we are a church who exists in this city for its flourishing. We believe we’re to live as God told his people in Jeremiah 29:4-7:

“Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, to all the exiles whom I have sent into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon: Build houses and live in them; plant gardens and eat their produce. Take wives and have sons and daughters; take wives for your sons, and give your daughters in marriage, that they may bear sons and daughters; multiply there, and do not decrease. But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare.”

As we exist to know Jesus and make him known in Twin Falls, we believe our city will be a place where human lives flourish.
